plancraft raises €38m to drive AI transformation in European construction

SaaS company plancraft has secured a €38m Series B funding round, led by global venture capital firm Headline with participation from existing backers Creandum, HTGF and xdeck.

The raise brings total funding to over €50m and will be used to develop AI-first tools for the construction trades while expanding teams across Europe.

The announcement comes at a time when the European construction sector faces severe workforce shortages, driven by demographic shifts, skills gaps, and increasing climate retrofit demands.

“Europe’s construction workforce is under unprecedented pressure – aging demographics, skills shortages, and the urgent need for climate retrofits demand dramatic efficiency gains. We don’t just want to digitalize skilled trades – we want to fundamentally change how they operate, so businesses don’t drown in administration while the real building suffers.”

Julian Wiedenhaus, CEO and Co-Founder, plancraft

Plancraft’s platform already digitises workflows for trades businesses – from quotes and job-site documentation to timesheets. With the new investment, the company plans to embed AI deeply into its product roadmap.

“AI is fundamentally changing how we interact with technology – and this represents a massive opportunity for blue-collar workers who’ve been left behind by traditional software. Our vision is AI for tradespeople that’s so intuitive the only skill they need is their voice.”

Alexander Noll, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer, plancraft

The strategy aims to build from today’s voice-enabled workflows toward full automation, with AI agents that can handle customer interactions, generate tailored quotes, and optimise business operations. This shift, according to the founders, will allow construction professionals to focus on their craft while software manages administration.

Since its Series A in June 2024, plancraft has more than doubled its workforce to over 100 employees and expanded operations into Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Italy. The company serves 20,000 customers in 11 countries, making it one of the fastest-scaling construction SaaS providers in Europe.

“At plancraft, we’re not just seeing a strong product with incredible customer love – we are very impressed by the team’s determined and ambitious mindset. The market tailwinds paired with the impact of AI specific to this end market can have a dramatic change on the industry across Europe.”
